It'sa rainy day, I'm procrastinating, and my tea isn't ready yet.

A few things before I get into a bit more about what I'm currently working on:

  • I have a Tumblr! I've only just started it, and for now it's mostly for cute animal pictures and reblogged awesomeness from history- and feminism-related Tumblrs.
  • I have a Twitter! Fair warning: I do tend to vent about or retweet political issues, so if that's not your cup of tea, hang out over here instead.
  • I have a Livejournal! I've sort of fallen out of the habit of posting there in recent months, but still.
As for the personal side, I'm thirty-four years old, single, and don't have any kids. What I do have is a secondhand Siamese cat, two plotting chinchillas, the tiniest hamster in the world, and a tarantula whom no one seems to like. I love to travel but rarely do, and I'm as much of a foodie as one can be when you can mostly afford mac and cheese and pretzels. I am a total tea junkie -- I rarely drink tea bagged anymore, and my favorites are the rooibos vanilla chai and wild strawberry teas from Adagio. My favorite movies are 70s disaster movies like The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno, and Earthquake. As for television shows, I like Community, Project Runway, Top Chef, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Air Crash Investigation, and Breaking Bad (although I still have to finish watching the last couple of seasons).

I wouldn't be much of a writer if I hated to read; my favorite subjects are romance (both m/f and m/m), historical nonfiction (particularly about disasters or tragedies), urban fantasy, horror, YA fiction, and especially post-apocalyptic fiction. Those also happen to be the same subjects I enjoy writing, although I've yet to write historical nonfiction. (I'd like to, though! Some day, when I find the right subject ...)Speaking of writing, this is my uncle. You should go buy his books, too. :)

Right now, I'm working on a few things. For my creative writing class, I wrote a short story for my final portfolio which I'm already planning to expand into a full-length post-apocalyptic YA novel, currently titled "Walkabout". As I previously mentioned, my self-published novel "Heroine Addiction" is on sale on Amazon and Lulu is ebook and paperback formats. My first still-unpublished novel, "Monsters of Moosic", the first in my Books of Boggs series, has been not yet been accepted yet, but it has been submitted to quite a few publishers and is currently undergoing editing in response to their critiques.
